Book Description:
We follow Zara as she rants and raves her way through Glasgow's gig economy. When the Council pilot a red-light district in the Merchant City, she realises she could have it so much better. Fuelled by fantasies of fame and fortune, Zara runs as fast as she can from the past which stalks her like a crazy ex-boyfriend. Cheeky, provocative and gut-wrenching, this book is an intense portrait of the cycle of abuse. Written with intense anger, throbbing tension and serene release - BEAST is a challenge to toxic masculinity. Liam McCormick is a poet who writes about people you probably know. He left the Black Isle at sixteen to become a writer. He has since had work featured on BBC 1Xtra, at the Roundhouse and as part of the match build-up to the Scottish Cup Final 2017. He has supported acts such as Kate Tempest and Linton Kwesi Johnson. He is now a writer and performer living in Glasgow.
